Participant profile
Designed for:
Master or PhD level students from law or other social sciences as well as practitioners and professionals: legal advisors, lawyers and officials of international organizations and domestic administrations who seek ways to enhance their professional skills by keeping up-to-date with emergent global regulation issues.
The participants will attend courses in the various fields conducted by eminent professors from prestigious Universities from all over the world. All the courses will be seminar-like classes and colloquia, and the active class-participation will be encouraged.
Overview
- This week-long summer school focuses on the increasing use of administrative law-type mechanisms within the regulatory institutions of global governance (international financial institutions, technical standardization organisations, international networks, public-private partnerships, private entities etc). The school provides a unique forum for a critical engagement with emerging forms of global administration in today’s transnational legal landscape.
- The idea is to discuss the latest developments on global administrative law from a practical perspective and cover both constitutional and institutional issues, and issues of soft governance. Topics of global interest that have an impact in daily lives of citizens, such as Brexit or responses to the Coronavirus pandemic, will be analyzed under a transnational perspective.
- The regulation of such issues of global concern transcends national borders and involves diverse legal orders. And as national administrations are increasingly becoming agents of global governance, the dichotomy between the national and the international becomes increasingly blurred. The program covers the different ways of interaction between such different regulatory systems (global, regional, national) but also the novel administrative procedures, review mechanisms, and decisional principles that promote greater accountability in decision-making by the proliferating variety of global regulatory administrative bodies.
The curriculum is updated annually to provide the most topical, practical, and core topics in the field.
